Hostinger gives new customers 20% off when they arrive through a referral link shared by an existing customer. It is the same 20% that people search for as a Hostinger discount code, promo code or coupon, and it comes on top of whatever sale Hostinger is running. We tested how it works on October 16, 2026: below is how the program works, how the discount shows up, who may share referral links and what you pay without one. This page does not contain a referral link, because Hostinger’s referral terms allow links to be shared only personally, not on websites.

The short answer
- What you get: 20% off the upfront price of a new Hostinger order, applied automatically when you open Hostinger through a referral link.
- Where it works: in our test it applied to web hosting (Premium, Unlimited), Cloud Startup, managed WordPress hosting and all four VPS plans.
- How to check it: the plan cards show a green “Referral code applied” label, and the cart shows a line called “20% referral discount applied”.
- What it does not do: it does not lower the renewal price. Renewals are the same with or without the link.
What the Hostinger 20% referral discount is
Hostinger runs a referral program: existing customers share a personal link with people they know, and new customers who buy through it get a discount. At the moment that discount is 20%. The link stores the referral in the browser, so when you pick a plan the price is already reduced and the cart shows the discount as its own line.
Because it is applied as a coupon, it stacks with the sale price instead of replacing it. Hostinger’s own badges on the plan cards (“80% off”, “83% off” and so on) describe the sale; the 20% is calculated after that, on what you would otherwise pay.
Hostinger prices with and without a referral link
We opened Hostinger’s pricing page twice in clean browser sessions on the same day: once directly, and once through a referral link. Same plans, same 48-month term.

| Plan (48 months) | Sale price, no link | With the 20% referral | You save | Renews at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $143.52 ($2.99/mo) | $114.72 ($2.39/mo) | $28.80 | $10.99/mo |
| Unlimited | $191.52 ($3.99/mo) | $153.12 ($3.19/mo) | $38.40 | $16.99/mo |
| Cloud Startup | $383.52 ($7.99/mo) | $306.72 ($6.39/mo) | $76.80 | $25.99/mo |

The pattern is exactly 20% on every plan. The saving in dollars grows with the plan and the term, because it is a percentage of the upfront total.
How the referral discount is applied
- Open Hostinger through the referral link someone shared with you personally. Use a normal browser window, not one that blocks cookies.
- Choose your product: web hosting, WordPress hosting, Cloud or VPS. Each plan card should show “Referral code applied”.
- Pick the term. Longer terms have a lower monthly price, and the 20% is taken from the whole upfront amount.
- In the cart, look for the line “20% referral discount applied” under the order summary. If it is there, the discount is locked in.
- Untick any add-on you did not plan to buy, create your account and pay.
Which Hostinger products the 20% applies to
| Product | Referral discount in our test | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Web hosting (Premium, Unlimited) | Yes, 20% | See the tables above. |
| Cloud Startup | Yes, 20% | $7.99 became $6.39 a month on 48 months. |
| Managed WordPress hosting | Yes, 20% | Same plans and prices as web hosting. |
| VPS (KVM 1, 2, 4, 8) | Yes, 20% | KVM 2: $8.99 became $7.19 a month. Full details in our Hostinger VPS review. |
| Hostinger Mail (business email) | Label shown | The first month is a free trial, so there is nothing to discount on day one. |
| Domain-only orders | Not tested | Most hosting plans include a free domain for the first year anyway. |
Hostinger decides which products qualify and can change it at any time. The cart is the final word: if the discount line is not there, the discount does not apply to that order.
Who can share a Hostinger referral link?
Any Hostinger customer can get a personal referral link from the Refer & earn section of hPanel. Hostinger’s Referral Program Agreement says these links are for personal, non-commercial use: they may be shared with people you know or on your personal social media, but not on commercial websites, blogs or YouTube channels, and not in paid ads. That is why there is no referral link on this page. Websites and creators that recommend Hostinger publicly use Hostinger’s separate Affiliate Program instead.
If nobody you know has shared a link with you, you still get Hostinger’s current sale price on the plan page, with no code needed.
Hostinger deals this month: what the 20% is stacked on
On the day we checked, the sale badges read 80% off Premium, 83% off Unlimited (marked as a special offer) and 77% off Cloud Startup on a 48-month term, and 63–70% off the VPS plans on a 24-month term. Those percentages compare the sale price with Hostinger’s regular price. The referral discount is then taken off the sale price. That is why it is worth checking the deal and the referral together, rather than hunting for a separate Hostinger promo code.

Why the referral discount might not show
- Cookies are blocked or cleared. The referral is stored in a cookie. Private windows that wipe cookies, strict tracking protection and some ad blockers can drop it. Open the link again in a normal window.
- You opened Hostinger another way first. If you clicked a different link earlier, that one may still be stored. Clear Hostinger’s cookies and use one link only.
- You are renewing, not buying new. Referral discounts are meant for new purchases. Renewals of an existing plan are not discounted.
- The product does not qualify. If a product is not eligible, the cart simply will not show the line. Nothing is charged until you confirm.
- The country site is different. Hostinger has local sites and currencies. The discount is a percentage, so the amounts change with the currency, but the label should still appear.
Referral link, coupon code, promo code, discount code: are they different?
For Hostinger, these words describe the same thing from different angles. A coupon code, promo code or discount code is something you type at checkout. A referral link carries the code for you, so there is nothing to type. Either way, Hostinger normally applies one discount per order, and the cart shows which one it used. Pages promising “stackable” Hostinger codes or discounts bigger than the current referral rate are usually out of date.
Is the Hostinger 20% off referral worth it?
Yes, if someone you know has shared a link with you and you were going to buy anyway. On the 48-month Unlimited plan it saved $38.40 in our test, and on Cloud Startup $76.80. The real decision is the term: the promotional price lasts for the whole term you pay for, and then the plan renews at the full monthly rate shown on each card. A longer first term means more months at the low price. Our Hostinger review walks through what you get on each plan, and if you are comparing hosts, see A2 Hosting vs Hostinger.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Hostinger referral link really give 20% off?
In our test on October 16, 2026, yes. Every plan we checked was exactly 20% cheaper through the link, and the cart listed “20% referral discount applied”. The current rate is set by Hostinger and can change.
Where do I get a Hostinger referral link?
From an existing Hostinger customer who shares their personal link with you, such as a friend or colleague. Hostinger’s rules do not allow referral links on blogs or commercial websites. Without a link you still get the sale price shown on Hostinger’s plan pages.
Does the 20% also apply when the plan renews?
No. Renewal prices were identical with and without the link. No Hostinger coupon or referral lowers renewals.
Can existing Hostinger customers use the referral discount?
It is designed for new purchases. If you already have an account, the cart will tell you whether a new order qualifies.
Does the discount work on Hostinger VPS?
Yes. All four KVM plans showed “Referral code applied”, and our KVM 1 cart listed a 20% referral discount of $31.15 on a 24-month term.
Is there a Hostinger discount code bigger than 20%?
Not that we could find through Hostinger’s own checkout this month. Larger percentages you see online usually describe the sale itself (for example “80% off”), and the 20% referral comes on top of that.
