Hostinger Cloud Startup review: 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM and 100 PHP workers from $7.99 a month

Cloud Startup is Hostinger’s entry-level cloud plan and the top tier of its regular web hosting range. It costs twice as much as Unlimited, so the question is not whether it is better (it is) but whether your website needs what the extra money buys. This review explains the resources in plain terms, the real cost over four years, the signs that you need it, and when a VPS would be the better step.

Verdict in one paragraph

Buy Cloud Startup when a website earns money while people are logged in or checking out: a busy WooCommerce store, a membership or course site, a booking system, or an agency account hosting many client sites. It doubles the CPU cores of Unlimited, adds 40 more PHP workers, adds on-demand backups and a dedicated IP address, and keeps the simple control panel of shared hosting. For a blog or brochure site, even a popular one, it is more than you need.

What the extra money buys

4 CPU cores and 100 PHP workers

This is the main reason to upgrade. Cached pages are cheap to serve on any plan; the expensive requests are the ones that cannot be cached, such as carts, checkouts, account pages, search, course progress and the WordPress admin. Cloud Startup can process far more of these at the same time before visitors start to wait. If your shop slows down during a sale or a newsletter send, this is the fix.

4 GB of RAM and a 6 GB database limit

Large WooCommerce catalogues, LMS plugins and forums build big databases and heavy queries. The extra memory keeps those queries fast, and the 6 GB database limit (double that of the smaller plans) gives a growing store years of room.

On-demand backups

Daily backups protect you from accidents; on-demand backups protect you from yourself. Take one right before a plugin update, a theme change or a migration, and you can roll back in minutes if it goes wrong.

A dedicated IP address

A dedicated IP does not improve SEO on its own, whatever some guides say. It is useful when a payment gateway, an API or a client’s firewall needs to allowlist your server, and it means your sites do not share an IP address with strangers’ websites.

2,000,000 inodes and 100 GB of NVMe storage

Enough for agencies keeping many client installs on one account, and for stores with tens of thousands of product images.

The real cost over four years

How you buyFirst paymentCost per month
48 months at the sale price$383.52$7.99
48 months with THEGREATOFF (estimate)$306.72$6.39
After the term ends—$25.99 renewal

Against the regular four-year price of $1,343.52, the coupon estimate saves about $1,037. For an agency hosting fifteen client sites, that is about $20 per site for four years. The current numbers for every plan are in our page on the best Hostinger coupon and hosting offer this month.

Signs you need Cloud Startup

  • Checkout, cart or account pages get slow at busy times, even though cached pages stay fast.
  • Hostinger’s control panel shows you hitting CPU, PHP worker or process limits.
  • Your database is approaching 3 GB.
  • You run a membership, course or community site where most visitors are logged in.
  • You host client websites and want isolation from other customers’ traffic, plus a fixed IP to give to third parties.

When a VPS is the better step

Cloud Startup is still managed hosting: you do not get root access, and you cannot install your own server software. If you need custom services (Redis tuned your way, background workers, Docker, a non-PHP stack) or you have outgrown Cloud Startup’s resources, a VPS is the next step, with the trade-off that you, or someone like us, manage the server.

Cloud Startup or Unlimited?

On a 48-month term, Cloud Startup costs $4 a month more than Unlimited. For most small businesses and new stores, Unlimited is enough at the start, and at the time of writing Hostinger lets you upgrade when the signs above appear. Choose Cloud Startup from day one if you are migrating a store or membership site that already has the traffic. Read our Unlimited plan review and the full plan comparison to decide.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cloud Startup the same as a VPS?

No. You get dedicated resources and a dedicated IP, but Hostinger manages the server and you use the same control panel as the smaller plans. A VPS gives you root access and full control in exchange for managing it yourself.

Does a dedicated IP help SEO?

Not directly. Google ranks pages, not IP addresses. The real benefits are allowlisting with third-party services and not sharing an address with other customers.

Can I start on Unlimited and upgrade later?

Yes. At the time of writing, upgrading within Hostinger is straightforward, which is why we usually suggest starting on Unlimited unless the site already has heavy traffic.

Is Cloud Startup good for agencies?

Yes. Unlimited websites, 2 million inodes and 100 GB of storage leave room for many client sites, and the dedicated IP helps when clients’ systems need to allowlist your server. If you would rather hand hosting and maintenance to someone else, see our WordPress development services.
